Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage and confirm whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor. The control power used to close the contactor should also be determined, along with the overload current range that encompasses the FLA from the previous step. The selection process can be further refined based on optional criteria such as incoming power configuration, whether using a direct-online starter or a separate control voltage, and the need for remote start terminals if activation from an external switch is desired. Key features include 80A capacity, 3-phase compatibility, separate coil voltage, start/stop functionality, and a coil operating range of 250-500V AC/DC with an overload relay rated for 65-78A.
