The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage on the motor or equipment nameplate, and confirm whether the power is 1-phase or 3-phase. Choose a starter with a current rating higher than the FLA. The control power for closing the contactor must also be selected, along with the overload relay, which should cover the motor's FLA within its current range. Options for the starter include the incoming power configuration, which can either be direct-online (using line power as control power), separate control voltage (when control voltage differs from line voltage), or configurations with remote start terminals that allow activation from an external switch.
