Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for motors up to 60HP or 80A, which include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage supplied, and determine whether the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for current higher than the FLA, and the control power needed to activate the contactor must be chosen. The overload is selected by ensuring the current range encompasses the motor's FLA. The starters offer several optional criteria: if the line power also serves as control power, it is classified as a "Direct-On-Line Starter"; if control voltage differs from line voltage, it is termed "Separate Control Voltage." For activation via an external switch, terminals for control power input can be included, known as "Remote Start Terminals," and if differing line and control voltages are used, this is specified as "Separate Control Voltage + Remote Start Terminals."
