Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the supplied input voltage and whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current that exceeds the motor's FLA, select the control power for closing the contactor, and choose an overload that includes the motor's FLA within its current range. Additional optional criteria include whether the incoming power will be used as the control power, classifying it as a "direct-online starter," or if there is a need for a different control voltage, referred to as "separate control voltage." For starters activated from an external switch, terminals can be added for control power input, known as "remote start terminals," and configurations can accommodate cases with differing line and control voltages. Key features of these starters include an 80A rating, 3-phase operation, remote start terminals, a reset button, coil voltage options of 250-500V AC/DC, and overload settings ranging from 65-78A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
