Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor, select the control power used to close the contactor, and choose the overload based on a current range that includes the FLA. The starters can be configured based on incoming power conditions: for direct-online starters where line power is used as control power, or separate control voltage options, which may include remote start terminals for external switch activation.
