Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage being supplied and determine if it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor, and select the control power used to close the contactor. The overload should be chosen based on a current range that covers the FLA obtained previously. Additional optional criteria include selecting incoming power, where a "direct-online starter" utilizes line power for control, while a "separate control voltage" indicates a difference between line and control voltages. For activation from an external switch, "remote start terminals" can be added, with an assumption that the line and control voltages are the same. If different voltages are used, it is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the motor starter include an 80A rating, 1-phase separate coil voltage start/stop, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload rating of 75-87A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
