Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters comprise a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is crucial to start by verifying the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current higher than the FLA of the motor. Additionally, the control power used to close the contactor must be selected. The overload relay should be chosen based on a current range that encompasses the FLA identified earlier. Optional criteria for further selection include the type of incoming power, where "direct-online starter" utilizes line power for control and "separate control voltage" designates a different control voltage than line voltage. For external activation via a switch, remote start terminals can be added, presuming the line and control voltages are identical. In the case of different voltages, the configuration is referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The features of this specific model include an 80A rating, capability for 1 phase operation, a separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a reset button, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload setting of 75-87A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
