The SmartDrop™ X is a full spectrum UV-VIS spectrophotometer that requires a sample volume of 0.5 to 2.0L and is capable of performing nucleic acid and protein calculations, with preset programs for BCA, Bradford, and Lowry assays. It enables a full spectrum analysis in approximately 6 seconds, allowing for the identification of unknowns, and can select up to 5 specific points on the spectrum for colorimetric readings output. The device uses a long life xenon lamp source that requires no warm-up period, paired with a highly sensitive CCD detector for optimal accuracy, utilizing two auto-ranging path lengths of 0.2mm and 1.0mm. The SmartDrop™ series facilitates quick quantification of small samples, eliminating the need for dilutions and ensuring more precise results. The unit features a full color, 7" touchscreen with icon-driven menus and preprogrammed protocols, requiring no external computer. Each spectrophotometer includes a quartz pedestal for sample placement, with results for DNA, RNA, and protein concentrations and purity displayed in seconds. Data can be printed, saved in onboard memory, or exported via USB as an Excel file. Each model is equipped with an integrated printer and comes with a cuvette port and two optical glass cuvettes for OD600 readings. Key features include full-spectrum absorbance scans from 200 to 800nm, rapid calculation of 260/280 and 260/230 ratios, a long-life xenon lamp with a precision monochromator, and the capability to detect up to 4,500 ng/L of dsDNA without dilution.
