These clear non-vacuum desiccators are manufactured from borosilicate glass and include a borosilicate glass lid with a molded-in knob. The clear glass construction provides excellent visibility and is suitable for autoclaving. The rims of both the desiccator and lid feature ground glass, which necessitates greasing before use to achieve an air-tight seal. The kit also includes a perforated porcelain desiccator plate designed to fit onto a ridge above the lower chamber. A standard drying agent, such as silica or anhydrous calcium chloride, can be placed in the lower chamber. The dimensions are as follows: flange outer diameter is 300mm, flange inner diameter is 234mm, top chamber diameter is 300mm, top chamber height is 125mm, and maximum clearance above the plate is 205mm. Note that the rims of the desiccator and lid require greasing to create an effective air-tight seal.
