The 12-24x1/2 Phillips flat undercut thread cutting screw type F is fully threaded and made of zinc. These thread-cutting type-F threaded screws are specifically designed for use in heavy gauge sheet metal, aluminum, zinc and lead die castings, cast iron, brass, and plastic. When using these screws in stainless steel, it is important that the material into which the screw is cutting threads has a lower hardness by 10-20 Rockwell hardness. The flat undercut heads are particularly beneficial when a flat head is desired on shorter length screws.
