Thhn 12 gauge building wire, stranded type, white is designed for various applications including conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial settings as per the 2008 National Electrical Code. The wire is classified as Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2, suitable for dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C, and for wet or dry locations at 90 °C or 75 °C when exposed to oil. When utilized as type MTW, the wire functions effectively in wet locations or when exposed to oil at temperatures not exceeding 60 °C, or in dry locations at temperatures up to 90 °C, adhering to NFPA 79 ampacity limits for 75 °C conductors. The wire's voltage rating stands at 600 volts, and it can be installed without pulling lubricant. It meets or exceeds all applicable ASTM specifications, UL standard 83, UL 1581, UL standard 1063 for MTW, CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, federal specification A-A-59544 as well as National Electrical Code requirements. It is VW-1 rated for sizes 14 through 1 AWG, CT compliant for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger, FT1 rated for sizes up to 500 KCMIL, and RoHS compliant and sunlight resistant for sizes 2 AWG and larger. The construction features soft annealed copper conductors, unilay compressed strand, insulated with durable heat and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and encased in a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or UL recognized equivalent.
