High voltage permanent magnet DC motors are typically utilized with an SCR controller in applications that require adjustable speed and constant torque throughout the speed range. These motors are particularly suitable for applications demanding dynamic braking or adjustable speed and reversing capabilities. The mechanical and electrical features include a brush holder design that provides easy access to brushes, large oversized brushes that ensure long brush life, and a removable bolt-on base. They come in NEMA C-face designs with input power ratings of 115 or 230 volts and an output of 90 / 180 volts. Additionally, these motors are capable of dynamic braking and are compatible with PWM or SCR type controllers rated for high starting torque.
