The Edwards 5530MD-24AW Adaptatone Millennium is a heavy-duty industrial tone-selectable signaling device designed primarily for fire alarm systems and other applications that require electrical supervision of signaling circuit field wiring. It features 55 tone capability without the need for additional tone modules and can output up to 110 dB, making it suitable for Division 2 locations. The device utilizes a microprocessor circuit to generate 55 distinctive tones, with a single tone selection accomplished via a miniature DIP switch located within the unit. Activation can occur through field-wired normally open contacts or a 24VDC external voltage source, such as those from PLC or fire/security panels, with compatible normally open contacts available from Cat. No. 5538-4 and/or Cat. No. 5538-4R Adaptatone signal actuators. It allows for both 1/2" (13mm) conduit installation and surface mounting, and is also applicable for unsupervised signaling tasks. Typical use cases include fire alarm emergency warning systems, plant evacuation and security intrusion alarms, process monitoring, shift start-and-dismissal horns, and paging signals.
