The Edwards 5540M Millennium Central Tone Generator is engineered for applications requiring simultaneous high decibel signaling with a capability of 55 tones, eliminating the need for additional tone modules. This device is PLC compatible and features captive components along with centralized programmable tone selection. It offers system-wide priority tone selection, assuring synchronous signaling from all remote speakers. The generator produces 27 standard Adaptatone sounds, with four tones that can be activated via field-wired normally open contacts or a 24VDC or 120VAC external voltage source, such as a PLC output. Normally open contacts can be sourced from the Cat. No. 5538-4 or Cat. No. 5538-4R Adaptatone Signal Actuator. Tones are selected through miniature DIP switches within the unit, operating on a pyramid-type priority system. On-site volume control can be easily adjusted via a conveniently located control inside the unit. Adaptatone signaling systems are suitable for industrial applications that demand high decibel output and reliable microprocessor performance, making them ideal for emergency warning systems, plant evacuation alarms, security intrusion sirens, process monitoring, and shift start-and-dismissal horns.
