The Edwards Signaling 439D-8AW-R is a vibrating fire alarm bell with an 8" size, operating at 24 VDC and drawing 0.85 amps, featuring a red diode. It includes gongs available in 6" (152 mm), 7" (254 mm), and 8" (203 mm) sizes and is constructed with a heavy-duty die cast housing and a rugged, compact mechanism, making it suitable for outdoor use when paired with an optional back box. The bells are diode polarized and designed to work with fire alarm control equipment, emitting a loud, resonant tone from gongs made of select alloy steel. The epoxy powder-coated finish in red enhances durability, and the supplied mounting plate allows installation directly on surfaces or on any single gang box, or on 3 1/2" (89 mm) or 4" (102 mm) octagon or square electrical boxes. For outdoor applications, the Edwards Cat No. 449 weatherproof back box is recommended. The 438D and 439D fire alarm bells serve as audible signaling appliances, operating in conjunction with an installed fire alarm panel and detection devices.
