Product Details
Ethylene propylene rubber (EPDM) is a copolymer of ethylene and propylene, also functioning as a terpolymer with a small amount of a third monomer to enable sulfur vulcanization. EPDM exhibits excellent resistance to ozone, sunlight, and weathering, along with very good low-temperature flexibility, good chemical resistance to many dilute acids, alkalis, and polar solvents, and effective electrical insulation properties. The cure system includes both peroxide-cured and sulfur-cured standard EPDMs; while sulfur-cured compounds provide superior flexibility, they are more susceptible to hardening and have a poorer compression set at high temperatures. Peroxide-cured EPDMs, on the other hand, offer enhanced heat resistance and a lower compression set, making them suitable for long-term use, particularly in hose systems within the construction industry, albeit at a higher production cost. The temperature range for standard EPDM is from -55°C (-67°F) to 125°C (257°F).
