Product Details
Nitrile rubber, also known as NBR or Buna N, is a widely utilized sealing elastomer distinguished by its resistance to petroleum-based fuels and lubricants, along with its cost-effectiveness. Nitrile elastomers are copolymers composed of acrylonitrile and butadiene, with variations in acrylonitrile content ranging from 18% to 50%. A lower ACN content enhances low-temperature performance but compromises resistance to fuels and polar lubricants, while a higher ACN content improves fuel and polar lubricant resistance at the expense of low-temperature properties; standard NBRs typically exhibit an ACN content of 34%. The curing system significantly impacts performance characteristics, as sulfur-cured standard nitriles provide better low-temperature resilience but are susceptible to hardening at elevated temperatures, whereas peroxide-cured nitriles offer superior heat resistance and lower compression sets despite being more costly and challenging to process. The material maintains a standard low-temperature range of -40°C (-40°F) and a high-temperature range of 100°C (212°F).
