Product Details
Nitrile rubber, also known as NBR or Buna N, is a widely used sealing elastomer, characterized by its resistance to petroleum-based fuels and lubricants, as well as its cost-effectiveness. It is composed of copolymers of acrylonitrile and butadiene, with acrylonitrile (ACN) content variably ranging from 18% to 50%. A standard NBR typically has an ACN content of 34%, balancing low-temperature properties and resistance to fuels and polar lubricants. The cure system of nitrile rubber can either be sulfur-cured or peroxide-cured; sulfur-cured compounds provide better low-temperature performance but may harden at high temperatures, while peroxide-cured nitriles exhibit enhanced heat resistance and lower compression sets, albeit at a higher processing difficulty and cost. Nitrile rubber operates effectively in a temperature range from -40°C (-40°F) to 100°C (212°F), making it suitable for various applications where both flexibility and durability are required.
