Caloritech™ CX series screwplug immersion heaters are specifically designed for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. The heaters are available with factory-installed thermostats to monitor and control liquid temperatures, ensuring full immersion in liquid at all times for effective heating through natural convection currents. Standard models come with 1" - 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with options for special orders for different sizes or plugs. For models equipped with thermostats, the moisture or explosion-proof housings include a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for ease of access. The installation process utilizes standard 1 in. to 2-1/2 in. NPT tapered plugs, which are installed through a threaded half coupling in the vessel wall, located below the minimum liquid level but high enough to prevent sludge buildup on the heating elements. While horizontal installation is preferred, vertical installation may be feasible; consultation with the factory is recommended prior to purchase. The operation requires a balance between convection currents and the temperature difference for optimal heat transfer, particularly with viscous liquids that impede convection. The immersion heater is engineered for safety, efficiency, and ease of control, making it a practical choice for reliable heating solutions.
