Caloritech™ CX series screwplug immersion heaters are primarily designed for water heating in tanks or vessels, incorporating brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. The heaters can be equipped with factory-installed thermostats for precise liquid temperature control and are intended to remain fully immersed in liquid at all times, utilizing natural convection currents for effective heating. Standard models feature NPT tapered plugs ranging from 1" to 2-1/2", with other sizes available upon special request. Thermostat-equipped models, designed with moisture or explosion-proof housings, include a convenient terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley. Installation involves using standard 1 in. to 2-1/2 in. NPT tapered plugs, with alternative sizes available upon special order, installed through a threaded half coupling positioned well below the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge accumulation over the heating elements. While horizontal installation is preferred, vertical installation may be possible upon consulting the factory for advice. To achieve optimal operation, it is crucial for the immersion heater to maintain a balance between convection currents and the temperature differential with the liquid, particularly when dealing with viscous liquids that may hinder convection. The heaters are engineered for efficiency and safety, providing nearly 100% operational efficacy while being relatively straightforward to control and install.
