Caloritech™ CX Series screw plug immersion heaters are specifically designed for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screw plugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters can be equipped with factory-installed thermostats for liquid temperature control and are intended to be fully immersed in liquid at all times. Standard models come with 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, while other sizes are available via special order. Thermostat-equipped heaters with moisture or explosion-proof housings include a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley. The installation process involves using a threaded half coupling located well below the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge build-up over the heating elements. Although horizontal installation is preferred, vertical installation may be possible upon consultation with the factory. In terms of operation, effective heat transfer requires a balance between convection currents and temperature differentials, and care must be taken to achieve the necessary heat transfer rate without overheating the heating elements.
