Caloritech™ CX series screw plug immersion heaters are designed for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screw plugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. The heaters can be equipped with factory-installed thermostats for liquid temperature control and are meant to be fully immersed at all times. Typical models have standard 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available upon special request. Thermostat-equipped models with moisture or explosion-proof housings come with a convenient terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley. Installation is facilitated through a threaded half coupling positioned well below the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge build-up on the elements, ideally using horizontal orientation, although vertical installation may be possible with prior factory consultation. The heaters operate by transferring heat through convection currents, and care must be taken to establish a proper balance between these currents and the temperature difference to avoid overheating the elements. This equipment is compliant with appropriate industry standards and certifications specific to its application.
