Caloritech™ SS series radiant strip heaters and component heaters are designed with offset terminals at one end, making them a versatile and economical heating source suitable for a variety of applications such as surface heating for platens, dies, molds, tanks, and piping, as well as process air heating in drying cabinets, ovens, and vacuum dehydrating ovens. These heaters are also utilized for winterizing hoppers, conveyors, and ducts, and can be employed in original equipment like air conditioning and food packaging systems. The SS series features two offset bolt-type terminals, and they can be easily controlled via a heating control panel, mechanical thermostat, or bi-metal thermostats installed on the heater's surface. For secure installation, mounting holes are provided to attach the heaters to walls, with a terminal extending from the sheath for straightforward electrical connections. Special orders can accommodate lead wires that extend from one end of the strip heater, allowing for flexible installation configurations. Operating temperature considerations are important for selecting wire with a suitable temperature rating on the insulation jacket, especially since the heaters can reach high temperatures. The entire heater assembly is encased in a stainless steel sheath, providing corrosion resistance and a sleek appearance, with a maximum sheath temperature limit of 1000°F (538°C). Installation is straightforward, aligning with various specific needs and applications.
