Caloritech™ CX series screwplug immersion heaters are designed primarily for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters come with options for factory-installed thermostats to control liquid temperatures and are intended to be fully immersed in liquid at all times. They typically have standard 1" - 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available upon special order. The thermostat-equipped screwplug heaters with moisture or explosion-proof housings include a convenient terminal block mounted to a slide-out trolley. Notably, electric immersion heaters are considered highly efficient, providing close to 100% efficiency, and offer safer and easier temperature control compared to gas or oil heating solutions. Installation is achieved through a threaded half coupling located well below the minimum liquid level, allowing for space above the bottom to prevent sludge build-up. A horizontal installation is preferred, though vertical installation may be feasible; consultation with the factory is advised before purchase. For optimal operation, an immersion heater must balance convection currents and the temperature difference with the liquid, as viscous liquids can complicate heat transfer.
