Caloritech™ CX series screw plug immersion heaters are designed primarily for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screw plugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters can be equipped with factory-installed thermostats for precise temperature control of the liquid and are intended to be fully immersed at all times. The standard offerings include heaters with 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with additional sizes available upon special order. All thermostat-equipped models that have moisture or explosion-proof housings come with a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for ease of access. Installation requires that the heater be placed through a threaded half coupling in the vessel wall, ensuring it is well above the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge build-up, which should never obstruct the heating elements. While horizontal installation is preferred, vertical installation may be possible upon consultation with the factory. These heaters must achieve a balance between convection currents and temperature differences to effectively transfer heat, and care should be taken to prevent overheating of the elements.
