Caloritech™ CX Series screwplug immersion heaters are designed primarily for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. The heaters are equipped with factory-installed thermostats for temperature control and are intended to be fully immersed in liquid at all times, utilizing natural convection currents for optimal performance. Typical configurations include standard 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available upon special request. Models featuring moisture or explosion-proof housings include a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for convenience. Installation is accomplished through a threaded half coupling situated in the vessel wall, positioned below the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge buildup on the elements. The heaters operate effectively by balancing convection currents and temperature differentials, although viscous liquids may pose challenges in achieving efficient heating without risking element overheating. All units are certified for safety and compliance with industry standards, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
