Caloritech™ CX Series screwplug immersion heaters are primarily designed for water heating in tanks or vessels. They feature brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters can come with factory-installed thermostats to regulate liquid temperatures and are intended to remain fully immersed in liquid at all times. The standard sizes include 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available through special orders. All thermostat-equipped models with moisture or explosion-proof housings include a convenient terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley. While electricity costs may be higher than gas or oil, Caloritech immersion heaters typically offer close to 100% efficiency, enhanced safety, easier control, and lower installation costs. Installation requires the heater to be fitted through a threaded half coupling in the vessel wall, positioned well below the minimum liquid level but above the bottom to prevent sludge build-up. Horizontal installation is preferred, although vertical installation is sometimes feasible with factory consultation. Operation necessitates a balance between convection currents and the temperature difference to efficiently transfer heat, particularly when dealing with viscous liquids that hinder convection. Each unit's dimensions and specifications can accommodate various operational needs, ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards.
