Caloritech™ CX Series screwplug immersion heaters are primarily utilized for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters are designed for continuous immersion in liquid and can include factory-installed thermostats to regulate liquid temperatures. Typical configurations come with standard 1" - 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available upon special request. Thermostat-equipped models featuring moisture or explosion-proof housings are equipped with a convenient terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley. The listed heaters include standard 1 in. to 2-1/2 in. NPT tapered plugs, while alternative sizes can be ordered specially. Proper installation requires the heater to be placed through a threaded half coupling in the vessel wall, positioned below the minimum liquid level and adequately above the bottom to prevent sludge accumulation. Horizontal installation is preferred, although vertical installation is sometimes feasible; consult the factory for guidance prior to purchase. Immersion heaters operate by establishing a balance between convection currents and the temperature difference between the heater and the liquid, effectively transferring heat while avoiding overheating of the elements.
