Caloritech™ CX series screwplug immersion heaters are designed primarily for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. The heaters come with optional factory-installed thermostats to regulate liquid temperatures and must be fully immersed in liquid at all times. Commonly equipped with standard 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, custom sizes or plugs can be requested via special order. Thermostat-equipped models with moisture or explosion-proof housings include a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for convenience. Installed through a threaded half coupling positioned well below the minimum liquid level to prevent sludge buildup, these heaters ideally operate horizontally; however, vertical installation may be possible with prior consultation from the factory. The heaters achieve close to 100% efficiency, promoting safety, easier control, and typically lower installation costs compared to gas or oil alternatives. It is essential to maintain a proper balance of convection currents and temperature difference for efficient heat transfer, particularly when heating viscous liquids, which hinder convection.
