Caloritech™ CX Series screw plug immersion heaters are designed primarily for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screw plugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters can come with factory-installed thermostats to regulate liquid temperatures and are engineered to remain fully immersed in liquid at all times. Typical models utilize standard 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with additional sizes or plug types available upon special request. The immersion heaters with moisture or explosion-proof housings are equipped with a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for ease of access. Installation involves threading the heater through a half coupling in the vessel wall, placed below the minimum liquid level and elevated enough to prevent sludge build-up from covering the elements, with horizontal installation preferred, though vertical installation may be possible after consulting the manufacturer. The operation of these heaters depends on establishing a balance between convection currents and temperature differentials, particularly when heating viscous liquids that impede convection.
