Caloritech™ CX Series screwplug immersion heaters are specifically designed for water heating in tanks or vessels, featuring brass screwplugs with NPT-style threads and copper sheath elements. These heaters come with factory-installed thermostats to effectively control liquid temperatures and are intended for full immersion in liquids at all times. Standard sizes for heaters include 1" to 2-1/2" NPT tapered plugs, with other sizes available upon special request. Models equipped with thermostats and moisture or explosion-proof housings feature a terminal block mounted on a slide-out trolley for convenience. The heaters are designed for installation through a threaded half coupling positioned well below the minimum liquid level, yet spaced to prevent sludge from covering any part of the heating elements. While horizontal installation is preferred, vertical installation may be an option with prior factory consultation. The operation involves maintaining a balance between convection currents and the temperature difference to optimize heat transfer, particularly when heating viscous liquids, which can impede convection.
