Caloritech™ SS series radiant strip heaters and component heaters, featuring offset terminals at one end, serve as a versatile and economical heating source for various applications, including surface heating (platens, dies, molds, tanks, piping), process air heating (drying cabinets, ovens, baking ovens, vacuum dehydrating ovens, moisture protection for motors), dropping resistors for railroads and load banks, winterizing (hoppers, conveyors, ducts, car heating, thawing), and original equipment (air conditioning, laboratory equipment, food packaging, ovens, presses, drying equipment). SS series strip heaters are equipped with two offset bolt-type terminals at one end and can be effectively controlled using a heating control panel, mechanical thermostat, or cost-effective bi-metal thermostats installed on the heater's surface. The design includes mounting holes for secure wall installation, with a terminal extending from the sheath for easy electrical connections. Special order options allow for lead wires to extend from one end of the strip heater, enhancing installation flexibility by enabling easy adaptation of the temperature controller to specific configurations. The operating temperature is critical for selection, as the surface of the strip heaters can reach high temperatures; thus, knowledge of the application’s temperature requirements is necessary to choose the appropriate wire insulation jacket. The heaters are encased in an aluminized steel sheath, which provides corrosion resistance and an appealing finish, suitable for applications with a maximum sheath temperature of 1000°F (538°C); for higher temperatures, stainless steel heaters are recommended.
