Caloritech™ SD series radiant strip heaters and component heaters, featuring opposite end terminals, are a versatile and economical heating source suitable for various applications, including surface heating (platens, dies, molds, tanks, piping), process air heating (drying cabinets, ovens, baking ovens, vacuum dehydrating ovens, moisture protection for motors), dropping resistors for line applications in railroads and load banks, winterizing (hoppers, conveyors, ducts, car heating, thawing), and original equipment (air conditioning, laboratory equipment, food packaging, ovens, presses, drying equipment). The FS series finned strip heaters are equipped with two offset bolt-type terminals at one end. Caloritech™ SD strip heaters can be conveniently controlled using a heating control panel, mechanical thermostat, or bi-metal thermostats installed on the heater's surface. The heaters come with mounting holes for secure wall installation, with a terminal extending from the sheath for easy electrical connections. For installation flexibility, lead wires can be supplied through a special order, allowing the temperature controller to adapt to specific configurations. The surface temperature, which is application-dependent, must be considered to select wire with a suitable temperature rating on the insulation jacket. The heaters are encased in an aluminized steel sheath, providing corrosion resistance and an attractive appearance, and are suitable for applications where the maximum sheath temperature does not exceed 1000°F (538°C); for higher temperatures, stainless steel heaters are recommended.
