Caloritech™ SS series radiant strip heaters and component heaters feature offset terminals at one end and serve as a versatile and economical heating source for various applications, including surface heating for platens, dies, molds, tanks, and piping; process air heating for drying cabinets, ovens, baking ovens, vacuum dehydrating ovens, and moisture protection for motors; as dropping resistors for line applications in railroads and load banks; for winterizing hoppers, conveyors, ducts, and car heating; and in original equipment like air conditioning, laboratory equipment, food packaging, ovens, presses, and drying equipment. The SS series strip heaters come equipped with two offset bolt-type terminals, and they can be easily controlled using a heating control panel, mechanical thermostat, or cost-effective bi-metal thermostats installed on the heater's surface. The heaters have mounting holes for secure wall installation, with a terminal extending from the sheath for straightforward electrical connections. Special order options include lead wires that can extend from one end of the strip heater for flexible installation, accommodating specific configurations for temperature controllers. The heaters' operating temperature is application-dependent, and the surface can become quite hot, necessitating the selection of wire with a suitable temperature rating based on the insulation jacket. The heaters are encased in a corrosion-resistant aluminized steel sheath, compressed under high pressure, which also provides an appealing appearance. These aluminized steel strip heaters are appropriate for applications with a maximum sheath temperature not exceeding 1000°F (538°C); for higher temperatures, stainless steel heaters are recommended.
